Homework tonight is pages 272-280.
Today we examined how human traits are passed on from parents and offspring. We tested our ability to taste various chemicals (PTC, sodium benzoate, and thiourea) and did a lab where we passed on traits to make some really ugly babies! :)

We discussed karyotypes today and did a small assignment. The karyotype assignment is in the folder "documents". Information for today's lesson is found in the same powerpoint as the pedigrees.
Today we took a Punnett square quiz and worked on the rough draft for the project.
Homework for this weekend is pages 270-271. Today we discussed how inheritance can be displayed through a pedigree.
We also assigned the project for this nine week grading period, The Pedigree Project. Students will use a fictitious family and will trace the prevalence of an assigned trait through multiple generations. All of the necessary information for the project can be found here. |
