Afterwards, we began creating on origami model of DNA. Instructions for this assignment are on this website under Unit 2 in the labs/activities folder.
Today we went over the test together and discussed the format lab report for the egg osmosis lab. Please see Mrs. Smith if you were absent to take care of both of these things. Afterwards, we began creating on origami model of DNA. Instructions for this assignment are on this website under Unit 2 in the labs/activities folder. HW: 224-226

Today we finished our egg lab. We will discuss the egg lab write-up next week (Monday). We also completed a microscope lab where we looked at cells. Your task is to look at the following slides: 1. Cheek cells (you make) 2. Blood smear 3. Cork 4. Elodea 5. A random protist that has been given to you (Euglena, Amoeba, Vorticella, Paramecium, Volvox) You will look at it at the best magnification in order to see the cells (this will vary from slide to slide). You will pictures of what you see (and color) at the best magnification possible. Each image must include: - At least one labeled cell part/organelle - The magnification used in the image (Ocular x Objective = total magnification) When finished, you will turn your lab into Mrs. Smith. Here are example images of what you should see: Today we completed day 6 of our egg lab and then discussed cellular respiration. Notes were taken on the board, so please see Ms. Smith if you were absent or need additional help.
We played a kahoot review for Friday's test as well. The kahoot can be found under the study tab if you are interested in playing again. HW: Study for Friday's test! Photosynthesis was the topic for today. We discussed the importance of the ATP molecule, organisms that do photosynthesis, and some basics about light and pigments. Use the photosynthesis powerpoint for missed information if necessary.
HW: pg 177 Today we started the week long lab where we will examine the movement of various liquids across a membrane. Please see the directions on google classroom for more details.
We also took a group quiz over diffusion and osmosis. Today we took a quiz on cell organelles and biomolecules. Please see Mrs. Smith if absent. We then discussed the importance of the cell membrane and its role in maintaining homeostasis. Diffusion, osmosis, passive, and active transport were discussed. The "Cell Membrane" powerpoint includes the information discussed today. We also assigned the Food Journal that will be due next Wednesday.
